The Best Cheese Crackers Ever

Buttery, savory cheese crackers made with red Leicester, sesame, flax, and a touch of yogurt. Easy to make, freezer-friendly, and perfect for texture-curious toddlers.

These cheesy crackers are rich in flavor and gently boosted with nutritional yeast, flax, and sesame for a nutritious bite. Quick to make and perfect for snack boxes to take on long car rides or for playgroup. Even I love this so much - it tastes almost exactly like store-bought Cheez-its.

Cheese Crackers

Ingredients:

  • 115g red Leicester cheese, grated (I get mine from Marks & Spencer)

  • 80g all-purpose flour

  • 2–3 tbsp cold grass-fed butter, cubed

  • ⅛ cup full-fat Greek yogurt

  • ½ tbsp ground flaxseed

  • ½ tbsp sesame seeds

  • 1 tsp nutritional yeast (optional, for extra cheesy depth)

📌 You can swap red Leicester for cheddar or a mild cheese your toddler enjoys. Nutritional yeast adds gentle umami and a B-vitamin boost.

Instructions:

  1. Blend dry ingredients
In a food processor, add cheese, flour, flaxseed, sesame, nutritional yeast, and salt. Pulse briefly to combine.

  2. Add butter & yogurt
Add cold butter and Greek yogurt. Pulse again until the dough just comes together — it should look like a soft, slightly crumbly ball. If too dry, add a tiny splash of cold milk.

  3. Roll & shape
Roll the dough between two pieces of parchment to as uniformly thin as possible. Cut into squares, strips, or fun shapes with small cutters.

  4. Bake
Place on a lined baking tray and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 12–15 minutes, or until golden around the edges.

  5. Cool & store
Let cool fully before serving. Store in an airtight container for 2–3 days or freeze for later.

Note for Toddlers:

These crackers are rich in cheese, healthy fats, and protein. Suitable from 10 months+, depending on dairy tolerance and chewing stage. No added sugar, no refined oil.
